Our renowned series of European Breast Cancer Conferences (EBCC) provide a unique multidisciplinary setting for all professionals with a common interest in breast cancer to navigate, discuss, inform and educate themselves about this evolving disease landscape; to debate and deliberate about new data and developments; and to establish what it means for patient treatment and care. Even more importantly, the 9th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC9), the largest Breast Cancer Conference outside the USA, will enable participants to implement the new findings into their daily practice, making a tangible difference for their patients. This will be the core focus of EBCC9, in Glasgow, Scotland from 19 to 21 March, in 2014.

The breast cancer community recognises the need to keep up to date with all advancements in the field, whether it be in earlier detection, better diagnostic means, improved local control, developments in prognostication, or advances in adjuvant treatments. We are committed to expanding our outreach and education, and EBCC9 will provide the most comprehensive CME-accredited scientific programme to date, and the choicest, must-attend discussions, lectures and cutting-edge thinking in specialty areas. We have new sessions such as ‘multidisciplinary team in the real world’, with a multidisciplinary team discussing a unique case. We have also extended our partner workshops to focus on nurses and pathologists as well as senologists.

This year sees the reintroduction of the manifesto, the Glasgow statement, including concrete outcomes of the conference, will be used to lobby policy and decision makers to improve breast cancer treatment and care.

EBCC9 provides a solid platform for advocates to connect and collaborate with breast cancer professionals, enabling all to hear from thought-leaders, learn from colleagues and peers and work together to effectively develop advances and insight into breast cancer.
