Prof Elizabeth Charlotte Moser - Champalimaud Cancer Center, Lisbon, Portugal

Prof Moser talks to ecancertv at the 9th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC) about the type of treatments patients have access to in the case of both locally advanced and metastatic breast cancer.

Moser argues that consensus is needed in Europe and the wider world in the prevention and treatment of cancer. The establishing of guidelines and a multidisciplinary approach between systemic therapy, radiotherapy and surgical treatment will improve patient wellbeing and survival.

Moser puts particular emphasis on the need for early intervention and systemic therapy which is especially advantageous for cancer in its early stages in younger patients. However, she also stresses the importance of the increased investment in diagnostics, key to providing the best treatment, and is no more crucial than in those with metastatic cancer in its later stages.
