Prof Cheng-Har Yip spoke to ecancer at the BGICC 2020 conference in Cairo, Egypt about DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ).

She describes firstly what DCIS is; a pre-cancerous or non-invasive cancerous lesion of the breast, classified as Stage 0.

Prof Yip explains why and when a mastectomy might be needed, and some of the genomics research currently used to look at which DCIS may progress.

She also outlines what some of the risks and complications can be along these procedures.
