Dr Jayant Vaidya speaks to ecancer about the global adoption of single-shot targeted intraoperative radiotherapy (TARGIT-IORT) for breast cancer.
He explains the researchers contacted global centres to provide data for the quantity of patients being treated with TARGIT-IORT. The paper results found that 260 centres from 35 countries treated 45,000 patients by early 2020.
Dr Jayant Vaidya also signposts viewers to the TARGIT website which hosts an interactive map allowing patients find the closest centre to them which offers TARGIT-IORT.
