She also discusses stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) techniques.
I am here to present my work that is on small beam dosimetry, because I am a physicist and I work in a radiotherapy department.
I work mostly in SBRT techniques, the new technique for the treatment of small lung and also on the other parts of the body tumours.
For these kinds of tumours we need a small beam to go only inside the tumour.
For the physicists this is a different challenge and we work a lot on how to measure in an accurate way the dose inside the small beam.
How do you do SBRT techniques?
I have done an Italian project in about thirty centres in order to compare our results on small beam dosimetry with different detectors.
What were the results?
The result is that it is difficult to measure these small beams and it’s probably the use of the new generation kind of dosimeter that are present also in this conference could be useful.
Will the patients receive better treatment?
Yes, the accuracy of the treatment can increase.
