ASCO's strategic plan for cancer care in LMICs
Prof Twalib Ngoma speaks to ecancer at the 2019 AORTIC conference in Maputo about the current landscape of cancer research in Africa.
Prof Ngoma states that research in Africa is grossly underfunded, with the majority of these funds provided by organisations outside of the continent.
He describes the challenges within this area, such as a lack of resources/funds, limited infrastructure and well-trained researchers with the skills required.
Prof Ngoma concludes by discussing the main approaches to improve this situation.
