Dr Gina Nightingale speaks to ecancer at the SIOG 2019 meeting about her involvement with the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC).
Firstly, Dr Nightingale outlines why polypharmacy management is a problem in older patients, and why it is a common scenario leading to adverse events.
She describes the model used at her cancer centre, and outlines why she thinks it is a good way forward, where patients using multiple medications can be reviewed and potentially interventions can be made to reduce the number of drugs being used.
