Prof. Anne-Lise Børresen-Dale, President of European Association of Cancer Research (EACR).

Prof. Børresen-Dale discusses the importance of a multi-discipline approach to cancer treatment. It is still unclear which of epidemiology and genetics is a more significant causative factor of breast cancer.

How can we affect the chance of breast cancer, weather this is though lifestyle changes, such as reducing obesity, or through chemo-prevention. Genetics can be very important to identify populations that are at risk and chemo prevention should be targeted at these populations.

Prof. Børresen-Dale goes on to stress the importance of a multi-discipline approach among researchers and clinicians. For instance exchange programmes can be used to educate laboratory researchers of surgical procedures.
