Mary Gullatte – Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, USA

At the European Oncology Nursing Society annual meeting, Mary Gullatte talks about the importance of leadership in nursing and how nurses are responsible for the outcomes of patient care. Nurses must lead in patient and family education as they have the ability to focus on the importance of a patient's quality of life.

There is a growing need to educate nurses and put them in a position to advocate for the patient and help educate the next generation of nurses. However, the shortage of qualified and educated oncology nurses is hampering this.
