Dr Sanjit Agrawal - Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, India

Dr Sanjit Agrawal speaks to ecancer about the oncologic safety of breast conservation following NACT in women with locally advanced breast cancer.

He says that this study is a retrospective observational study of 411 non-metastatic locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) followed by surgery from 2011 to 2016.

The study found that BCS is technically feasible in LABC patients.

Dr Agrawal concludes that LABC patients who respond well to NACT can be offered BCS without compromising survival outcomes.
