Gaza's cancer patients: Navigating the dual struggle of illness and war
Dr Michael Mejia speaks to ecancer about radiotherapy treatments for multiple cancer types in the Philippines at the Choosing Wisely Philippines conference 2023.
He explains that most of the radiotherapy cases in the Philippines include breast cancer, cervical malignancies and head and neck cancers. It can be used as a curative intent treatment but can also be used for palliative purposes.
Dr Mejia concludes by highlighting that the affordability of medication options for cancer patients in low-middle income settings continues to be an important issue in cancer care.
