Dr Filipe Coutinho

Dr. Filipe Coutinho holds a Master's Degree in Medicine and is a board certified Medical Oncologist. He completed a fellowship in breast, lung and skin & sarcoma´s at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust of London.  Dr. Coutinho works at Centro Hospitalar do Médio Ave EPE as an oncologist in the Medical Oncology Unit and as a palliative care physician within the hospital palliative care team. His clinical interest is the treatment of gastrointestinal and breast cancers. He also has special interests in medical communication focusing in delivering serious news & patient decision process, and geriatric´s assessment tools. He holds post-graduate diplomas in Palliative Care and Medical Communication. Dr. Coutinho is the founder and coordinator of the Geriatric Oncology Working Group of the Portuguese Society of Oncology. He coordinated and moderated the first national workshop in oncogeriatrics. He is part of the reviewer´s panel for the Journal of Geriatric Oncology,  a reviewer for Ata Médica Portuguesa, and a member of the Medical Oncology Scientific Council of AIMGF Magazine (Association of Interns of General Medicine). He is highly involved in the academic setting, where he is an invited professor at Health Sciences Faculty of University of Beira Interior teaching Clinical Oncology to medical students, a master thesis supervisor, and prelector in numerous events organized by students associations. He is a member of several professional organizations such as ESMO, ASCO, ESDO, or EACR. He has presented and published more than 50 works in national and international academic meetings and journals.
