Dr Matteo Lambertini - San Martino Hospital, Genoa, Italy

Dr Matteo Lambertini speaks to ecancer about the young oncologist's perspective of cancer care during the spread of COVID-19 in Italy.

He explains that the pandemic has caused oncologists to alter the way they are treating cancer patients, such as discussing the possibility of treatment delay and prioritising treatment in the early setting as well as treatment in the advanced that is likely to have great benefit.

Dr Lambertini also explains there is an effort to implement a system that allows oral treatment to be administered at home.

He also discusses the implementation of tele medicine for follow up patients and postponing consultations for patients who are showing no sign of disease recurrence.
