Dr Nestory Masalu speaks to ecancer at the 2019 AORTIC conference in Maputo about the cancer registry in Tanzania and the lung cancer control program.
He describes the importance of cancer registry and the difficulty that has been experienced in setting up a cancer registry in Tanzania.
Dr Masalu explains that the lung cancer control program was setup due to the similarity of symptoms to the condition pulmonary tuberculosis.
He reports that the program was extremely cost effective due to previous concerns with the cost of misdiagnosing and also diagnosing too late.
