Dr. Natalia Zakharova discusses her ESMO funded research evaluating the Eastern Europe breast cancer screening programme, a programme that aims to improve the quality of breast screening. Dr. Zakharova goes on to speak about a randomised trial she will be conducting which will compare mammography with mammography and a breast cancer blood test. This new blood test identifies a breast cancer gene expression signature and is anticipated to increase the detection rate of early stage breast cancer.
