Dr Christoph Thomssen - Martin-Luther University, Halle, Germany

Dr Thomssen discusses the difficulties faced when developing personalised medicine and the importance of prognostic and predictive markers in this process. Dr Thomssen speaks about the importance of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations and how the PARP expression of ER+/ER- tumours can be used as a predictive factor for chemotherapy. Looking forward to ASCO 2011, Dr Thomssen outlines his hopes for future advances in breast cancer research.
