Dr Mary McCormack - University College Hospital, London, UK

Dr Mary McCormack speaks to ecancer about the GCIG INTERLACE trial. This is a randomised phase III trial of induction chemotherapy followed by chemoradiation compared with chemoradiation alone in locally advanced cervical cancer.

This trial investigated whether short-course weekly induction chemotherapy delivered before standard chemoradiation improves both progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).

The study found out that induction chemotherapy followed by CRT significantly improves progression-free survival and overall survival in locally advanced cervical cancer and should be considered as a new standard of care.
