Dr Hamisa Iddy speaks to ecancer at Choosing Wisely Tanzania 2023 about her talk on Choosing Wisely in multiple myeloma.
She defines multiple myeloma as a malignancy of plasma cells that effects the antibodies of patients. Then she outlines key tests that should be used to help diagnose multiple myeloma and the process of how we should manage treatments.
Dr Iddy explains that, in Tanzania, multiple myeloma cases appear in 10% of patients under the age of 40 but in high-income countries the median age of diagnosis is 70 years.
