Expert Group on Immuno-Oncology (I-O) Meeting
19 Nov 2014
Room PHS 5B 001, European Parliament, Brussels, Belgium
For the past few months, ECPC has been honoured to co-chair the European Expert Group on Immuno-Oncology (I-O). The Expert Group consists of patient organisations, cancer specialists, researchers and policymakers from across Europe who are working together to help improve awareness and understanding of immuno-oncology amongst policymakers and to propose a framework for action for European and national policymakers to encourage rapid and appropriate access for patients to the most effective I-O therapies.
Cancer causes 1.2 million deaths per year in the EU and prognosis for many patients continues to be very poor. Immuno-oncology therapies are a new cancer treatment modality that is expected to become one of the cornerstones of cancer therapy in years to come. They work with the body’s immune system and have the potential to offer long-term, quality survival to patients with many forms of cancer for whom prognosis was previously very limited.
ECPC is pleased to invite you at the launch of the report developed by the Expert Group on November 19th, from 11.00 – 12.30, room PHS 5B001, in the European Parliament. The event will be co-hosted by ECPC together with Philippe de Backer (ALDE MEP) and Cristian Busoi (EPP MEP).
During the event, ECPC will also launch A GUIDE FOR PATIENTS on Immuno-Oncology. (Both the Report and the Guide have been developed thanks to the financial support of Bristol-Myers Squibb)
