Palliative Care in Oncology Symposium
24 - 25 Oct 2014
The Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel, Boston, MA, United States of America
Optimal oncology care requires the provision of both state-of-art cancer therapy and impeccable palliative care. Many people think of palliative care only as end-of-life care but it also focuses on the relief of patient and family suffering through the skilled prevention, assessment, and treatment of cancer- and therapy-related symptoms to provide the best possible care, whether the cancer is curable or not. The Palliative Care in Oncology Symposium will focus on the scientific basis of symptoms and their treatment, models of integrated care delivery, and quality of life.
This new symposium will focus on the integration of palliative care into cancer care across the trajectory of the illness, and will present insights into:
-
The management of treatment- and disease-related symptoms
-
Models of integrated health care delivery
-
Animal models of toxicity and pharmacogenomics of symptoms
-
Symptoms and quality-of-life concerns for cancer survivors
The Symposium will include a scientific program featuring abstracts. The abstract submitter is expected to launch in the spring, and the deadline for submission is July 1, 2014. Please check back for more detailed information in the coming months.
