The EFR – the European Federation for Colorectal Cancer – was founded in May, 2003. This organisation is committed to researching the most common type of cancer in Europe, promoting postgraduate training and finally improving treatment concepts by conducting large international trials.

Even modern, well organised trials are no longer able to resolve burning questions in oncological surgery at the level of single country studies. 

The EFR will be an appropriate platform for this issue. Its strength is based on multifactoriality, multidisciplinarity and multinationality.
