This educational program is directed toward medical, gynecologic, surgical, and radiation oncologists. Fellows, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, researchers, and other health care professionals interested in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies
are also invited to attend. Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Recognize high-risk patient populations and the techniques available for the screening, prevention, and monitoring of ovarian cancer and other gynecologic malignancies
- Determine the optimal first-line treatment strategy for patients with ovarian cancer, including use of surgery and adjuvant therapy
- Discuss the use of first-line intraperitoneal chemotherapy for eligible patients with ovarian cancer
- Describe the value of maintenance therapy for appropriate patients with ovarian cancer following first-line chemotherapy
- Assess treatment options for second-line therapy for recurrent metastatic ovarian cancer based on sensitivity or resistance to prior platinum-based chemotherapy
- Review the molecular basis for the use of novel agents in treating gynecologic malignancies and discuss the implications of recent clinical data on novel targeted agents in these malignancies
- Discuss current guidelines and standards of care for the treatment of early-stage and recurrent endometrial and cervical cancers
- Select eligible patients with gynecologic malignancies for appropriate clinical trials
