The Annual Fall Foliage Cancer Conference originally began as the Annual Western North Carolina Cancer Conference held at the Grove Park Inn, Asheville, NC  on October 7, 1989 with a topic of "Management of Common Malignancies Within the Community Setting".  

The conference continues to this day as a way to bring a faculty of physicians, distinguished as teachers and oncologists, to share their knowledge and experience with practicing physicians and allied health in the community setting.

The conference began with local radiation oncologist Dr. Charles Thomas as a local/regional conference and has grown into a national conference with the reputation of inviting speakers who are top physicians in their fields from prestigious medical schools/institutions. 

The conference has been approved for 10.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.
