Metabolic reprogramming is a hallmark of tumours. Cancer and stromal cells alter their metabolic wiring in order to meet the energetic and anabolic demands, to cope with external insults, to survive in hostile environments and to alter the molecular properties of the niche they inhabit. In addition, the metabolism of the host influences the behaviour of tumours.
The EACR Conference on Cancer Metabolism will gather top experts in the field in Bilbao, Spain to discuss the metabolic alterations in tumours, the mechanisms through which metabolites regulate cell decisions and the metabolic interaction between the tumour and the host.
