Prof Malcolm Mason - Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK

Prof Mason speaks at the Highlighting Welsh Cancer Research Conference about past successes and future hurdles in the prevention, diagnoses and treatment of cancer in Welsh clinics.

He highlights the open communication with governing bodies, world-class research and technical investment in Wales as factors driving team training and expertise, and includes patient involvement in clinical trials as an essential step in future research.

Prof Mason proposes an appraisal process to streamline the data gathering and reporting of significant data to reduce the chances of clinically significant results being under-reported or misrepresented, and calls for the interconnectedness of clinics and patient data to cope with a changing tide in demands for care.
