Advancing Pharmacovigilance in Kenya

This e-learning module focuses on enhancing pharmacovigilance practices mainly in Kenya, Eswatini, and Lesotho, addressing challenges like resource limitations and low awareness. It provides practical guidance on adverse event reporting to empower healthcare workers with the tools to improve patient safety, foster a culture of medication safety, and support informed regulatory decisions.

Objetivos educativos

By the end of this educational initiative, participants will be able to:

Define Pharmacovigilance

Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacovigilance reporting structures and processes in Kenya and across Africa, including how to complete and submit adverse event reports.

Identify the unique pharmacovigilance challenges faced in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), such as resource limitations, language barriers, and limited HCW training.

Utilise pharmacovigilance knowledge to improve clinical decision-making and patient safety in oncology and other disciplines.

Incorporate adverse event reporting into routine healthcare practices, ensuring compliance with local and regional regulatory requirements.

Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams to foster a coordinated approach to pharmacovigilance and improve medication safety.

Tailor pharmacovigilance practices to the specific regulatory, cultural, and healthcare contexts of Kenya, Eswatini, Lesotho, and other African countries.

Evaluate the long-term impact of improved pharmacovigilance practices on clinical competence and patient outcomes.
