ICD-O-3: Coding Primary Site and Tumour Morphology

These modules on coding topography, morphology and cancer stage have been developed through a collaboration between the European Network of Cancer Registries, Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and ecancer.

The purpose of the modules is to train the cancer registrars to implement the international classifications for coding a cancer case.

This module 1 presents an introduction to coding topography and morphology using the third edition of the International Classification of Diseases for Oncology - ICD-O-3.

These training modules have been designed for cancer registry staff, eg. coders, database managers, and analysts.

 

Objetivos educativos

By the end of this module, you should:
1) Know the general principles and rules of ICD-O-3
2) Understand the structure of topography and morphology codes
3) Be able to apply the ICD-O-3 rules for coding the topography and morphology of a cancer case
