Dr Soumitra Datta speaks to ecancer about the use of tele health in providing psychological support to patients with cancer.
He explains that tele health is particularly important for cancer patients as patients would benefit having an intervention at home, even in times outside of a pandemic.
Dr Datta discusses some of the best practices for telephone and internet based consultations, highlighting the importance of the tele counsellor to be verbally active and guide the interview structurally.
He goes on to describe the plethora of different forms that internet based consultations could take, believing that the role it has to play is immense.
