Dr Verna Lavender speaks to ecancer at UKONS 2019 in Telford about the UKONS (UK Oncology nursing Society) organisation and meeting.

Dr Lavender explains why the focus of the 2019 meeting is on 'staying safe', including patient safety, personal safety, the safety of carers and emotional safety.

She speaks about some of the highlights from the meeting, many of which identified nurse shortages as a key obstacle to patient care and safety.

Dr Lavender concludes by talking about the goals and plans of UKONS in 2020 while giving her advice to anyone considering nursing as a career.
