Dr Neerja Bhatla - All India Institute Of Medical Science, Delhi, India

Dr Bhatla speaks with ecancer at EBMCI 2017 about the use of HPV vaccines to prevent cervical cancer and other diseases.

She describes the intended targets of the two HPV vaccines, a bivalent formulation for the most dangerous virus strains and a quadrivalent formulation that aims to prevent additional diseases, and the establishment of a recommended schedule of 2 doses in young girls based on trial data gathered in India.

Dr Bhatla goes on to discuss data from other global trials such as disease reduction in Australian girls, emphasising the affordability of the recommended schedule, and describes serious side effects as not attributable to vaccination.

Reported side effects of HPV vaccination are also discussed by Dr Sudeep Gupta and Dr Supriya Chopra, and Dr Jaydip Bhaumik spoke with ecancer about the role of community in vaccine adoption.
