Dr Fatima Cardoso - Champalimaud Clinical Center, Lisbon, Portugal

Dr. Fatima Cardoso, Director of the Breast Cancer Unit at the Champalimaud Clinical Center in Lisbon, Portugal and Chair of the Steering Committee, clearly explains that patients with mBC are very different from early BC patients, both in terms of the treatments they receive and the support they need.

There are three main gaps revealed by the Global Decade Report: access to resources, support and treatment outcomes. Many patients feel abandoned, lonely and guilty when they are living with mBC.

A lot still needs to be done to improve their quality of life and, from the findings of this report a “call to action” will be delineated to help to change this situation.
