Dr Geetanjali Borse - Cipla Palliative Care and Training Centre, Pune, India

Dr Borse describes her role to ecancer at IAPCON 2017 in assessing and providing nutritional care for cancer patients and explains how she keeps updated with current practice.

I usually do nutritional assessment and understand the problems, nutritional requirement, and calculate energy requirement and understand their symptoms and plan a suitable diet which will help them in symptom relief for them.

How do you stay up to date on treatments and trends in the field?

I regularly go through research papers to understand if there are nutrients in nutrition and dietetics. I update myself by reading the dietary guidelines in cancer patients in various phases in palliative care. We used to attend various conferences and seminars to update myself.

What is your vision for palliative care in the future?

I like to help for the patients in all phases of life from the detection of cancer to the end of life of cancer. Wherever I can help them in admitted patients also and homecare patients also.
