Talquetamab plus teclistamab shows promise in true extramedullary multiple myeloma
Dr Masatoshi Kudo talks to ecancer about exploratory findings from the phase 3 EMERALD-3 study evaluating tremelimumab and durvalumab (STRIDE), with or without lenvatinib, alongside transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) in patients with embolisation-eligible hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
The analysis examined liver function trajectories and outcomes after disease progression according to patients’ baseline liver function.
Mean ALBI and Child-Pugh scores remained stable during treatment across baseline liver function groups.
Both STRIDE-based regimens showed numerical improvements in post-progression outcomes compared with TACE alone. Survival benefits were observed across baseline liver function groups, with results varying by regimen and subgroup.
Safety was also comparable across liver function groups. Dr Kudo explores the clinical significance of these findings and the potential role of combining immunotherapy with TACE in managing HCC while preserving liver function and supporting subsequent treatment options.
