Dr Caitlyn Duffy speaks to ecancer about the global survey which explores how healthcare providers perceive the term “adapted treatment regimen” in the context of the ARIA Guide, which provides resource-stratified recommendations for childhood cancer care.

Of 203 respondents from 68 countries who commented on the term, 62.6% expressed positive or very positive views, highlighting the value of evidence-based adaptation, transparency and improved outcomes.

However, some raised concerns that adapted regimens could be perceived as second-rate care or reflect persistent resource limitations.

The findings suggest that messaging emphasising quality, safety and capacity strengthening may improve acceptance and uptake of adapted treatment guidelines.
