About the frontMIND study, this is a randomised phase III study that was performed internationally and it had the question if the combination of tafasitamab, which is an anti-CD19 antibody, lenalidomide and R-CHOP is better than R-CHOP alone in previously untreated patients with different subtypes of aggressive lymphoma with an intermediate- or high-risk profile. So this study was conducted or performed from May 2021 to March 2023 and now it finally read out. We found that the combination of tafasitamab, lenalidomide and R-CHOP significantly improves progression free survival and event free survival in a significant manner but also, I believe, in a clinically meaningful manner compared to R-CHOP alone.
What impact could these findings have?
What is the impact of the study? I believe it is a novel treatment option, obviously given that it gets an approval in Europe and also in the US, that is obviously a prerequisite. But let’s assume that. Then I think this is another treatment option for patients that are at high risk of failing frontline therapy.
One has to note that there were more toxicities in the tafa/len/R-CHOP arm compared to R-CHOP only treated patients. However, in general at least, these toxicities are manageable and, importantly, it did not lead to the compromisation of the backbone R-CHOP, which is very important.
