The human crisis in cancer: a Lancet Oncology Commission
Dr Christian Ntizimira speaks to ecancer about his talk on palliative care in Africa which posed the question 'Is caring beyond cure possible in African cancer care?'
He begins by discussing the idea of the 'anthropology of compassion' and how palliative care is beyond the technical aspect.
Dr Ntizimira concludes by commenting "the way a patient dies reflects how the society lives", believing that there is a lot to learn from the patients in order to find out what communities want and need.
