Dr Elena Zamagni speaks to ecancer about a study she presented at EMN 2024 looking at bone disease evaluation of newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM) with combined use of 18F-FDG PET/CT and whole-body diffusion weighted MRI.

She reports that there was a higher sensitivity of diffusion weighted MRI when identifying focal lesions when compared with 18F-FDG PET/CT.

Dr Zamagni explains that although the analysis of the evaluation response to therapy is currently ongoing, initial results in 11 patients show a good concordance between the two techniques.
