Live interactive discussion: discover the latest in CLL and multiple myeloma

Around one in every 25 people will be diagnosed with blood cancer during their lifetime.

Of these diagnoses, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the most common in the western world with multiple myeloma accounting for a further 10% of all haematological malignancies.

This past year has brought with it important advances in the available treatments for both of these diseases. To help physicians understand their significance and interpret the implications for daily clinical practice, ecancer is hosting two online live expert discussions.

These hour long broadcasts will both feature a panel of Europe’s top haematologists discussing the latest developments in treatment and ultimately how these advances may be of benefit their patients. There will also be a segment at the end of each discussion allowing viewers watching online to participate in a question and answer sessions.

With new drugs having been developed for the treatment of CLL - whose side effects are much less severe than those currently available -   and several first-in-class treatments having recently been approved for multiple myeloma, we are set to see an improvement in the life expectancy and quality of life for a broad group of patients. These panels will be set up with aim of discussing both.

Management of CLL patients in the front-line setting

The first session will comprise an expert roundtable discussion moderated by Catherine Hood (UK) featuring Robin Foà (Italy), Patrick Thornton (UK) and Stephan Stilgenbauer (Germany).

It will cover the updated practices in the management of treatment-naïve patients with CLL as well as pre-treatment patient assessment and a variety of treatment options.

After this broadcast viewers will be invited to participate in a discussion of different management strategies for patients with CLL with the panel.

Update on new agents in multiple myeloma – focus on monoclonal antibodies
Live on the 14th of April at 17:00 – 18:00 CEST.

The following day will feature a conversation between Hermann Einsele (Germany), Philippe Moreau (France) and Niels van de Donk (Netherlands) and will be moderated by Michel Delforge (Belgium).

This session will include a comprehensive update on the use of monoclonal antibodies in the management of patients with multiple myeloma.

After viewing this broadcast, viewers will be able to discuss the rationale for monoclonal antibody therapy in multiple myeloma and summarise key clinical data and practical management with monoclonal antibodies in multiple myeloma.
