New editorial on what research areas matter most to patients

ecancermedicalscience has just published a new editorial which expands on the under-researched topic of which areas of research patients feel are the most important.  The authors of the piece, Sing Yu Moorcraft and colleagues from the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in London, report on a 4 week pilot survey of 780 patients which they carried out, with the aim of investigating patients' views on priorities for cancer research.

The authors, who include a patient representative,  say that "patients’ views should be considered alongside those of clinicians and researchers when devising research proposals and strategies".  They found, among other things, that "The top research priorities were remarkably consistent across age, gender and a variety of tumour types."
