Colourful veggies and plenty of puppies - ecancer in the news

As a sustainable charity-funded open-access journal, ecancermedicalscience takes its role seriously. But as our press office knows, sometimes one can see the lighter side of our work. We've enjoyed some recent attention in the international press - why not see for yourself?

Our most recent Special Issue on Cancer and Metabolism was featured in an article in Women's Health magazine. Guest Editor Dr Luca Mazzarella of the European Institute of Oncology explained how balanced nutrition is the most effective way for individuals to prevent cancer. His recommendations? Colourful vegetables are the way forward, although he told the ecancer staff that he also advocates "moving one's bum." Read our press release here.

We recently published a research article on the physical and psychological effects of dog sledding on children with cancer. You can watch CBC Toronto's piece on the study here, featuring an interview with author Dr Nicolas André - as well as some footage of the young cancer patients enjoying the company of the sled dog puppies! Read our press release here.

One of the benefits of publishing your research with ecancermedicalscience is the opportunity to promote your work through our Press Office and take advantage of our social media engine. We've just reached 7,000 Twitter followers (possibly due to a recent retweet from social media influencer Ben Goldacre) and heartily encourage healthcare professionals to join the discussions we have there.
