EurocanPlatform Translational Cancer Research Summer Course, Portugal, October 20-24, 2014

A five day summer course is being held in Portugal by the EurocanPlatform project on Translational Cancer Research this October.

The EurocanPlatform project is organising the 2nd Translational Cancer Research Summer Course, a 5-day programme of lectures and discussions which will cover all aspects of the translational research continuum, from early detection through treatment to survivorship.

A final day workshop will focus specifically on Personalised Medicine. The course will provide you with the opportunity to interact with an expert International faculty of speakers, and network with your fellow participants.

Day 2: Research areas driving preventive and clinical research
Day 3: Bridging preclinical and preventive/clinical research

Day 5: Clinical Personalised Medicine Workshop


Topics: The cancer continuum, tumor biology, cell cycle and cancer, cell death, cancer stem cells, tumour microenvironment, inflammation, cancer epigenomics, animal models of cancer, 'omics technologies, systems biology, targeted therapies, biomarkers, biobanking, clinical trials, bioinformatics, infrastructures for translational research, molecular pathology, medical oncology, radiation therapy, imaging, molecular prevention, clinical epidemiology, paediatric oncology, immunotherapy, personalized cancer medicine, outcomes research, health economy

Participants: 100 participants will be accepted, of which 80 should be young scientists (PhD, MD/ PhD, post-doctoral fellows).

Registration Fee: €600, includes 5 nights’ accommodation in twin room (double occupancy), breakfast, lunch, and all course material.

Please include a short curriculum vitae (max 2 pages) and a letter of recommendation (when applicable) should be submitted to eurocanplatform@gmail.com no later than August 4th, 2014.

Fellowships: 20 EurocanPlatform-OECI fellowships will be available for PhD & postdoctoral fellows with no more than 5 years’ postdoc experience. Fellowships will cover travel, accommodation, breakfast, and lunch.
