SPARC Europe has produced an analysis of funder open access policies worldwide. This is very useful information for researchers to use when choosing which journal to submit their work to. Most funders mandate Green open access, which is repository based, with some supporting both Gold (supported by author fees) and Green open access. The third option of Platinum open access, which does not charge either readers or authors and is generally supported by volunteer work, charity and grants, is not mentioned although it is now becoming a more viable alternative publishing model. ecancermedicalscience is a Platinum open access journal.
