Partnerships in Oncology Clinical Trials

9 Dec 2008

Investment in the development of oncology therapeutics has grown steadily in recent years, but attrition rates have remained high. Because the need for experience in conducting these trials has outpaced training, it is more important than ever to improve partnerships among stakeholders to ensure that these trials are operationally sound, produce quality data and are designed to aid in the recruitment and retention of patients.

The Partnerships in Oncology Clinical Trials meeting, to be held on January 26-27 at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia, USA, will share strategies on increasing patient recruitment and investigator productivity through early partnerships with consortia and AMCs, teach pharmaceutical companies to take full advantage of NCI Cooperative Groups, and communicate effectively both internally and externally to improve outcomes. This is the only conference to focus exclusively on the logistics of successfully conducting a clinical trial in oncology and discuss best practices for operations professionals in the therapeutic area.

The speaking faculty for this meeting is composed of through leaders from pharmaceutical companies, renowned cancer centers, and consortia who will share proven, actionable solutions to better your study and your drug from early clinical trials to approval. Rob Friedman of GlaxoSmithKline will share best practices for working with the NCI, Dr. Atul Dhir of Principia Health will discuss ways to work effectively with regional and national cancer research networks, and Paul Papagni of MD Anderson Cancer Center will advise sponsors on attracting major AMC to a trial. Additional presentations will be given by: Dr. Sridhar Mani of Montefiore Medical Center, Kathryn Stadler and Mark Byrne of Pennsylvania Cancer Control Consortium, Dr. Michael Shi of Novartis, Priscilla Adler of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Gail Adinamis founder of The Clinical Resource Network and Professor Stan Kachnowski of the Healthcare Innovation & Technology Lab.
