ecancer EU projects update: ecancer essential

10 Aug 2011

Welcome to the first edition of ecancer essential

This is where you can learn about how ecancer's contribution to our research projects and how any new developments can help you.

In this edition you can find out about:

  • The launch of ecancerHub.

  • Europe's leading organisations' education courses are now listed on our calendar.

  • Asking patients what they need from a clinical decision support tool.

ecancerHub is a new, open-access, integrated approach to providing the whole cancer community – patients, doctors, researchers and policymakers - with high quality and trustworthy information. Integrating the best of social media technology into one unique platform, ecancerHub enables patients, healthcare professionals and researchers to interact, connect and share.

They have the opportunity to discuss, debate, generate new ideas, gather opinions and build knowledge not only within their own groups, but also cross-community.

As part of the "Eurocancercomms" FP7 European project, ecancer has collected all of the educational courses offered by ECCO, ESO, OECI, ESTRO, ESMO and EORTC put them together in one place. This fantastic resource is here to help you find out what the leading organisations in Europe are offering.

ecancer has joined forces with European organisations to find out what patients want from a new set of decision support tools. The findings will help give our partners an idea of how to meet patient's needs within our 'Personalised medicine' FP7 European Project. Later this week we will go to Eindhoven to meet Philips Research; we will talk about what these findings mean for European cancer patients. Philips Research are the project leaders in the area of Clinical Decision Support.
