This text version of the Medication module is part of the VUCCnet elearning course in palliative care which has been developed in partnership with the African Palliative Care Association and Cardiff University. Experts in palliative care from across Africa and the UK have contributed to ensure this module is contextualised to the sub-Saharan cancer profile and resource setting.

Target audience

Multi-disciplinary African healthcare professionals.

Learning objectives

By the end of the module, you should be able to:

  • List at least 3 options for symptom relief that do not involve medication.
  • Talk to a new colleague about a framework for assessing and monitoring symptom control in patients with cancer.
  • Discuss with a new junior colleague some of the usual  patient and authority barriers to the use of morphine  in your country.
  • Discuss with that same colleague strategies to addressing those barriers.

IT Requirements

This module requires the learner to have a good, stable internet connection and runs best on INTERNET EXPLORER 7 AND ABOVE, and MOZILLA FIREFOX on either Windows or MacOS. FLASH ADD ON is also required to run this module.
