New cancer journal wins highly commended accolade at AOP Awards

ecancermedicalscience the online cancer journal from the European Institute of Oncology was awarded ‘highly commended’ by judges at The Association of Online Publishers Awards 2009, held last night in London. ecancer had been shortlisted in the Specialist Digital Publisher category in the prestigious publishing awards.

ecancer is the first not for profit cancer journal that does not charge for publishing or submitting cancer research articles. The online mix of original research and key video interviews has made ecancer a great hit with oncology professionals. Over 15,000 visitors a month from all over the world log on to watch, listen and comment on science papers, videos and forums.

ecancer aims to improve communications between cancer scientists and clinicians by working interactively and faster – speeding up the time it takes from discovery, to patient benefit.

Managing Editor Prof. Gordon McVie commented "As such a young journal we are delighted to get this recognition from the award judges, it proves that we have the right mix of oncology information for our audience."
