Dr Paolo Pietro Bianchi

European Institute of Oncology, Milan, Italy

Doctor Paolo Pietro Bianchi graduated at the University of Milano in 1989 and his interest was directed to minimally-invasive surgery. He began his career in Belgium at the European School of Laparoscopy followed by Strasbourg, in France at the IRCAD.

He was Chief of the Colorectal and Minimally-Invasive Unit in 2004 at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano (Italy) and in 2008 Director of the Minimally-Invasive Unit  at the European Institute of Oncology in Milano.

Doctor Bianchi's main interest is in digestive surgery and especially colorectal surgery, he is an expert of sentinel lymphnode detection in colon cancer and a pioneer of laparoscopic ultrasound.

In the last few years he has worked on the development of robotic surgery and its application to oncologic digestive diseases.

Doctor Bianchi is Professor of surgical technique at the postgraduate school of digestive surgery at the University of Milano and Founding member of the Clinical Robotic Surgical Association.

He is a member of the board of the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery and Associate Editor of Frontiers Oncology.
