Sahlgrenska University Hospital


The Sahlgrenska Hospital was founded in 1772 following a donation by the philanthropist http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niclas_Sahlgren Niclas Sahlgren Sahlgrenska and this hospital merged with Mölndal Hospital and Östra Hospital University Hospital to create the Sahlgrenska University Hospital on 1st January 1997. Sahlgrenska University Hospital is one of six hospitals in Sweden that provide medical education. The hospital provides an infrastructure necessary for teaching and research in cooperation with the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

Sahlgrenska University Hospital is the largest hospital in Northern Europe. It provides emergency and basic care for the 700,000 inhabitants of the Göteborg region and offers highly specialised care for the 1.7 million inhabitants of West Sweden.
