Elena Belloni is a staff scientist in the IEO Department of Experimental Oncology. After her graduation from the University of Milan, she remained in the same laboratory, working on microsatellites instability in Cystic Fibrosis. She then moved to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto where she was involved in the Chromosome 7 mapping project, as a part of the Human Genome Project, and in the genetic characterization of Holoprosencephaly (HPE). In 1999, she joined the IEO Department of Experimental Oncology, in the Cancer Genetics Unit. She is part of the stem cell group at the IFOM-IEO Campus and is also involved in a project regarding the genetic and genomic characterization of early lung cancers, carried out in close collaboration with the IEO Division of Thoracic Surgery.
