Subcutaneous tarlatamab shows encouraging efficacy in previously treated extensive-stage SCLC
Dr Anne Chiang talks to ecancer about phase 1 findings for ABBV-706, a first-in-class antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) targeting SEZ6, a protein highly expressed in small cell lung cancer (SCLC).
ABBV-706 delivers a potent topoisomerase 1 inhibitor payload directly to tumour cells.
In patients with relapsed/refractory SCLC treated at the recommended phase 3 dose, ABBV-706 achieved an objective response rate of 56% and median overall survival of 12.4 months. In the subgroup receiving second-line treatment, the response rate reached 82%, with median overall survival of 14.3 months.
Dr Chiang explores biomarker findings, including early declines in circulating tumour DNA and proGRP, and preclinical evidence supporting selective tumour targeting.
These results highlight ABBV-706’s future potential as a new treatment approach for patients with limited options, warranting further clinical investigation.
